Hints and Tips
Eating
Out (and in)
Whatever your taste in food here are a few of our favourites and
some tips. If possible eat in restaurants that are used by local
people e.g. restaurants on the US192 (Vine Street) near Main Street
Kissimmee.
For breakfast/lunch we really like Steak and Shake (there's one
next door to the 192 Flea Market). IHOP is also another great
alternative for breakfast/lunch.
If you like Italian food we can recommend the Macaroni Grill (take
a left on to the US192 at the junction of Poinciana Blvd. Head
up the 192 and it's on your left). They have a "design your
own dish" option on the menu.
If you fancy a Chinese Takeaway, then the China Wok (1320 N.John
Young Parkway) located in the Bermuda Shopping Center.
If you like Ribs then be sure to visit Tony Romas on International Drive - they have
"all you can eat ribs" on Mondays.
If you've got children and visit Downtown Disney, they will probably
love the Rainforest Café.
Theme
Parks
If you're new to Florida and you have decided to visit some of
the many theme parks, then we would like to give the following
advice. Each park has its favourite rides, so arrive at the parks
early (just before they open) and go directly to the most popular
rides e.g. at MGM go to "Tower of Terror" or the "Rock
and Roller Coaster". Most theme parks have some kind of "fast
pass", so use these early to maximise your enjoyment.
We would also advise you that if you decide to stay at a theme
park until it closes, then you could end up in traffic for a couple
of hours - so you might like to leave a little earlier and avoid
this "experience".
If you're going to Disney, just leave Indian Point via a right
turn onto Poinciana Blvd. When you reach the traffic lights at
the US192 go straight on and until you reach the US535. Take a
left onto the US535 and follow the signs to Disney.
